HISPANOTECH FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Small Business Technology

Technology does not have to be complicated. HispanoTech helps small businesses understand, use, troubleshoot, and improve the technology they depend on every day.

You do not need to know the technical terminology or diagnose the problem before contacting us. Tell us what is happening, what is not working, or what you are trying to accomplish. We can start from there—in English or Spanish.

WORKING WITH HISPANOTECH

Getting Help From HispanoTech

What kind of businesses does HispanoTech support?

HispanoTech focuses on practical technology support for small businesses, including businesses that may be too small to need—or want—a traditional managed IT department.

We work with construction companies, contractors, home service businesses, restaurants, hospitality businesses, professional service providers, nonprofits, retail businesses, and many other small organizations.

Visit our Industries We Serve page for more examples.

Is my business too small for HispanoTech?

No. Very small businesses are an important part of who we serve.

Your technology environment might consist of two computers, a printer, a Wi-Fi access point, a few security cameras, QuickBooks, business email, and cloud storage. You may not need a large IT company or a complicated managed-services agreement. You may simply need someone who can help when technology stops working or when you need to make a good technology decision.

Do I need to know what is wrong before I contact you?

No. You do not need to diagnose the problem or use technical terminology.

You can tell us, “My printer won’t print,” “Our Wi-Fi keeps dropping,” “Outlook stopped working,” “QuickBooks is having a problem,” or simply, “I don’t know what is wrong.”

Part of our job is identifying the problem, explaining what we find in plain language, and helping you understand the available options.

Do you provide technology support in English and Spanish?

Yes. HispanoTech provides technology support in both English and Spanish.

This can be particularly useful when owners, managers, and employees have different language preferences. An English-speaking manager may have Spanish-speaking employees, or a Spanish-speaking owner may have employees, customers, or vendors who prefer English.

We can communicate directly with the people involved without requiring the business owner or manager to translate every technology question.

How long has HispanoTech been providing technology services?

HispanoTech is part of SpanishTech LLC, an Austin, Texas company established in 2002.

Technology has been part of our work for more than two decades, alongside bilingual communication and technology integration. HispanoTech gives our small-business technology services a more focused home while building on that experience.

What areas does HispanoTech serve?

HispanoTech is based in Austin, Texas. On-site service is generally available throughout the Austin and Central Texas area, with projects in other Texas locations considered depending on the work involved.

Many software, email, cloud, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, training, consulting, and troubleshooting services can also be provided remotely when appropriate.

If you are outside the Austin area, contact us and tell us what you need. We can determine whether the work can be handled remotely or whether on-site service is practical.

Do I need a managed IT contract to work with you?

Not necessarily. Some small businesses need help with a specific problem, project, installation, migration, technology decision, or occasional support rather than an ongoing managed IT arrangement.

We can discuss what your business actually needs instead of assuming that every business requires the same service model.

Can you work with the technology we already have?

Yes. A technology review does not automatically mean replacing everything.

Whenever practical, we can evaluate your existing computers, software, network, cloud services, printers, cameras, and other systems to determine what can continue to be used, what may need improvement, and what should eventually be replaced.

The right technology is the technology that meets the business’s needs and budget.

Can you help me decide what technology to buy?

Yes. We can help evaluate technology before you spend money on it.

That may include computers, networking equipment, Wi-Fi access points, software, cloud services, cameras, storage, backup solutions, and other business technology.

Our Technology Assessments & Consulting service can help identify practical options based on your actual requirements and budget.

Do you only recommend Microsoft and other commercial software?

No. We take a practical, vendor-neutral approach.

Depending on your needs, compatibility requirements, support requirements, and budget, the right solution might be software you already own, a commercial subscription, a free or open-source application, a cloud service, automation, or another approach.

Free software is not always the least expensive solution once support, training, compatibility, security, and long-term maintenance are considered. Likewise, a commercial subscription is not automatically the best choice simply because it includes vendor support.

We help evaluate the overall fit rather than assuming one type of technology is always better.

How much do your services cost?

Every project is different. We custom-quote projects based on the work involved, technology, complexity, location, time requirements, and other project-specific factors rather than assuming that one price or service package fits every business.

You can contact HispanoTech even if you do not have a large technology budget. Sometimes the best solution is a relatively small change, using something you already have, choosing a lower-cost alternative, or solving the most important problem first.

Our goal is to recommend practical, market-competitive solutions appropriate for the needs and budget of the business.

EVERYDAY BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY

Computers, Wi-Fi & Business Technology

Do you repair computers?

We provide computer troubleshooting and technology support, but our focus is broader than traditional computer repair.

We can help troubleshoot problems, evaluate performance, install upgrades, configure software, migrate data, set up replacement computers, connect printers and other devices, and determine whether repairing, upgrading, or replacing a computer makes the most sense.

See our Technology Support & Troubleshooting service.

Can you set up a new computer and move my information?

Yes. We can help configure a new computer and migrate the information and applications needed for work.

Depending on the situation, this may include files, Outlook, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks, printers, OneDrive, user accounts, applications, and other business settings.

Learn more about New Computer Setup & Data Migration.

Can you upgrade memory or install a larger drive?

In many cases, yes. Memory and storage upgrades can sometimes improve performance and extend the useful life of a computer.

However, an upgrade is not always the best investment. We can help evaluate the computer’s condition, age, requirements, and intended use to determine whether an upgrade or replacement makes more sense.

Can you install or troubleshoot business Wi-Fi and networks?

Yes. We can help with Wi-Fi problems, routers, switches, access points, wired networks, connectivity problems, and Internet-related troubleshooting.

If employees are constantly losing connections, Wi-Fi does not reach part of the building, or business devices cannot communicate reliably, we can help investigate the underlying problem.

See our Wi-Fi, Networks & Internet services.

Do you install network cabling?

Yes. HispanoTech provides structured cabling and network infrastructure services for small businesses.

This may include network drops, Cat6 cabling, cabling for Wi-Fi access points and IP cameras, network infrastructure, testing, and cable certification when required.

Learn more about Structured Cabling & Network Infrastructure.

Do you support Starlink?

Yes. We can assist with Starlink setup, configuration, Wi-Fi integration, troubleshooting, and recommendations for connecting Starlink service to a small-business network.

Starlink can be particularly useful in some rural or underserved locations where conventional Internet options are limited.

Do you provide on-site and remote support?

Yes. Depending on the problem and project, support may be provided remotely or on-site.

Some software, email, account, cloud, and configuration issues can often be handled remotely. Physical installations, cabling, networking, cameras, computer setup, and certain troubleshooting situations may require on-site work.

Contact us and describe what is happening. We can help determine the appropriate approach.

EMAIL & BUSINESS SOFTWARE

Email, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace & Business Software

Do I need a professional business email address?

A domain-based business email address gives your business greater control over its email identity and can present a more professional image than relying exclusively on a personal email account.

For example, an address such as info@yourbusiness.com is connected to a domain your business controls.

Can you help with Microsoft 365, Outlook and Teams?

Yes. We can help small businesses with Microsoft 365 setup, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, business email, user accounts, migrations, configuration, and employee training.

We can also help businesses understand how the different Microsoft 365 tools work together rather than simply installing software and leaving employees to figure it out.

See Microsoft 365, Outlook & Teams.

Do you support Google Workspace and Gmail?

Yes. We can help with Google Workspace, Gmail business email, Google Drive, Calendar, Meet, user setup, migrations, configuration, and training.

Learn more about our Google Workspace services.

Should my business use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?

There is no single answer for every business.

The better choice depends on how your employees work, which applications you use, whether desktop applications are important, how you collaborate, existing email and file systems, and other business requirements.

Our guide Microsoft 365 vs Google Workspace for Small Businesses explains some of the differences.

Can you help with QuickBooks technology problems?

Yes. We provide technology support related to QuickBooks environments, including installation, computer and network issues, migrations, multi-user environments, backup considerations, and troubleshooting the technology around QuickBooks.

We provide technology support rather than accounting or tax advice.

See our QuickBooks Technology Support service.

Can you create inventory spreadsheets or other simple business systems?

Yes. Not every business problem requires expensive specialized software.

Depending on the need, we can help create or improve practical systems for tracking inventory, materials, equipment, purchases, projects, or other information using Excel, LibreOffice, forms, shared files, existing software, or other appropriate tools.

YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

Websites, Domains & Online Presence

Can you help me register and manage a domain name?

Yes. We can help businesses choose and register domains, configure domain-related services, connect business email and websites, and understand renewal and ownership considerations.

It is important for a business to understand who owns and controls important digital assets such as its domain, website, email accounts, and administrative credentials.

Can you build or improve a website for my business?

Yes. We help small businesses establish and improve their online presence, including WordPress websites, domains, contact forms, project galleries, website updates, Google Business Profile considerations, and bilingual websites.

See our Websites & Online Presence services.

Do I need a website if I already use Facebook or social media?

Social media can be useful, but it does not provide the same level of control as a website and domain that your business manages.

A business website can provide a stable place for customers to find your services, contact information, project examples, business information, and other content. Social media and a website can work together rather than replacing one another.

BUSINESS SYSTEMS & PROTECTION

POS Systems, Security Cameras & Backup

Can you help with POS systems?

Yes. We can help with the technology surrounding point-of-sale systems, including setup, configuration, printers, scanners, devices, networking, connectivity, and troubleshooting.

We can also help evaluate how a POS system fits with the rest of the business technology environment.

See POS Systems & Business Technology.

Can you help with business security cameras?

Yes. We can help small businesses plan, install, configure, connect, and troubleshoot security camera systems, including IP cameras, PoE, NVR recording, remote viewing, networking, and camera cabling.

Learn more about our Security Camera Infrastructure services.

Why does my small business need backups?

Business information can be difficult or impossible to recreate after a computer failure, theft, accidental deletion, malware incident, or other problem.

A practical backup strategy can help reduce the impact of data loss and support recovery and business continuity.

See our Data Backup & Business Continuity services.

Is OneDrive, Google Drive or other cloud storage the same as a backup?

No. Cloud storage, file synchronization, backup, and business continuity are related concepts, but they are not the same thing.

A synchronization service can make files available across devices, but changes or deletions may also synchronize. A backup strategy is designed around having recoverable copies of important information, while business continuity considers how the business will continue operating after a disruption.

AI, PRODUCTIVITY & TRAINING

AI, Productivity & Employee Training

Can you help my business use AI?

Yes. We help small businesses explore practical uses for AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and Gemini.

Possible uses include drafting communications, summarizing information, working with documents and spreadsheets, creating procedures, preparing training materials, organizing information, and reducing repetitive administrative work.

We also help businesses recognize when ordinary automation, existing software, or a simpler process may be more appropriate than AI.

Explore Practical AI for Small Business or read How Small Businesses Can Use AI for Everyday Work.

Is it safe to put business information into AI tools?

Businesses should not assume that every AI product, account type, subscription, or configuration handles information in the same way.

Before employees enter confidential, customer, employee, financial, healthcare, proprietary, or other sensitive information into an AI system, the business should understand the tool being used, its applicable settings and terms, and the organization’s own information-handling requirements.

AI-generated information should also be reviewed. AI can make mistakes, misunderstand context, or produce information that sounds convincing but is incorrect.

Can you train our employees to use technology?

Yes. We provide practical technology training and coaching for small businesses.

Training may cover Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Google Workspace, QuickBooks-related technology, spreadsheets, AI tools, employee onboarding, business workflows, and other technology used by the organization.

Training can be provided in English or Spanish depending on the needs of the business and its employees.

PLANNING AHEAD

New Offices, Planning & Data

Can you help set up technology for a new office or business location?

Yes. Planning technology before or during a move can help avoid problems later.

We can help plan and coordinate computers, Internet connectivity, Wi-Fi, wired networks, cabling, business email, printers, security cameras, backup, cloud services, and other technology needed for the location.

See our New Office Technology Setup service.

Can you review our technology even if nothing is currently broken?

Yes. You do not have to wait for something to fail.

A technology assessment can help identify aging equipment, backup concerns, network problems, account or access issues, inefficient workflows, security concerns, unnecessary subscriptions, and opportunities to simplify the way technology is being used.

The goal is not to create a list of things you must buy. It is to understand what you have, what is working, what needs attention, and what should be planned for the future.

Learn more about Technology Assessments & Consulting.

How do you handle customer information during technology support?

We understand that technology support may involve access to business systems, files, accounts, devices, or other information. We treat customer information and access credentials as sensitive and work to limit access to what is reasonably necessary for the work being performed.

If a project involves particularly sensitive information, regulated data, third-party systems, or special access requirements, tell us before the work begins so those requirements can be discussed as part of the project.

NEXT STEPS

Getting Started

What information should I have before contacting HispanoTech?

You do not need to prepare a technical report.

Simply tell us what your business is trying to accomplish, what technology you currently use if you know, and what problem or frustration brought you to us.

If you do not know the technical details, that is okay.

How do I get started?

Contact HispanoTech and tell us about your business and what you need help with.

It can be as specific as “We are moving 10 employees to a new office and need computers, Wi-Fi and Microsoft 365,” or as simple as “Our technology is becoming a mess and we need help figuring it out.”

We will start with the problem, discuss your priorities, and help identify practical next steps.
